Found objects create the landscape in which anonymous wire figures act out mysterious rituals. Eerie reflections create an abstract world rife with laborious undertakings by humans subordinate to the objects they maintain. Is this world a museum for once useful objects? Are the figures sorting important scrap, or is their labor merely futile?
Lisa Binnie is a photo-based artist and sculptor. She teaches creative approaches to photography in Toronto and Haliburton. Her off-the-grid studio Deer Apple Forge, near Algonquin Park, is open to the public on weekends. |
